Let me start introducing my favourite things, by addressing the most pressing issue of all – Aging. You can’t avoid it, it’s happening to you as we speak – but we can sure as hell look our best while we’re at it.

Once we leave our 20’s, all those late nights, partying and stress finally catch up and create lines you never noticed before. Furrows in the brow that don’t snap back after you’ve stopped frowning, lips that lose their plump freshness and skin lacks lustre.

For me, doing a little bit can go a long way and this means embracing the idea of Botox and fillers such as Juvederm. Scared of the thought of needles? Botox doesn’t feel any worse than a mosquito bite and Juvederm has advanced so that it contains a small dose of lidocaine, a local anesthetic which makes it a relatively comfortable procedure.

After years of trial and error, I’m happy to say that I’ve found an absolute artist when it comes to the application of these types of products. Photographed by living fashion legend Karl Lagerfeld, Miss Gossip girl herself - Blake Lively looks absolutely breathtaking as the new muse for Chanel.

However after last weeks little stunt pre-fashion week (Blake refused to appear at the show, claiming she thought it was tacky that celebrities attended these events), critics are slamming the shoot, stating she isnt a 'Chanel girl' and her look is too commercial.

Head down to Melbourne's Federation Square this Tuesday 15th March from 4.30pm for the Forever New Sidewalk Parade for LMFF - the first free public event during fashion week.

Melbourne’s rising ballet stars will open the parade by dancing to Tchaikovsky’s epic Swan Lake masterpiece, followed by models showcasing the Autumn/ Winter Collections ‘Enchanted Princess’ and 'Bohemian Rhapsody' which are heavily inspired by modern vintage and ballet themes.

What a fabulous way to wind down the working day, with a little glamour from Australian style favourites, Forever New.

Set the Scene - MYER Autumn/Winter Showcase 2011

The lovely people at Myer recently extended an invitation to yours truly to attend their Autumn/Winter showcase, being held at the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton.

With the sun setting, cocktails were served to the 'who's who' of Australian celebrity. Actors, designers, footballers & socialites mingled in the foyer, anxiously awaiting not only the new season that fashion powerhouse MYER had to offer, but also the return of golden girl Jennifer Hawkins to the catwalk, after a short disruption as the face of the company.

The likes of Lillian Frank, Leona Edmiston, Tottie Goldsmith, Wayne Cooper, footballer Matthew Richardson, Brynne Gordon (in a killer pair of Emporio Armani shoes), Geoffrey Edelsten, Rebecca & Chris Judd and Charlotte Dawson sat front row as actor Vince Colossimo introduced the collections. Standing before a dramatic scene, the runway was fashioned to look like a hidden inner city alleyway.

Jennifer opened the show for Arthur Galan AG, in a sizzling red strapless side frill belted gown and JLH for Siren tan suede pumps, while Jess Hart wore a long leather dress with sheer back, also with a Siren shoe.

Great to see flame haired model Tiah Erkhardt walking the runway in this show - I just love her and she brings a little something different, don't you think?

Jess Hart walked with a simmering sensuality for Wayne by Wayne Cooper, and I love this vid as you can see Wayne sitting in the front row, admiring his work. Jess is wearing a black beaded shoulder dress with Siren shearling ankle boots.

Jennifer appeared in Charlie Brown wearing an animal print bodysuit, faux fur vest, Princess Charlotte jewellery and one of the most interesting accessories of the evening, a lace eye mask. Watch Jen rock this look for Charlie Brown.

In my opinion, one of the standout collections of the evening was Simona. Showing metallics in bronze, gold and silver, the upcoming season is simply inspirational, with on-trend floor-length full skirts swinging as models walked. Cant wait to get my hands on this range!

And of course, all good things must come to an end, with a sizzling finale paired back to the sounds of Portishead - absolutely magical.

For lovers of fine coffee, and now fine art, Lavazza commissioned renowned international photographer Mark Seliger to shoot their highly anticipated 2011 calendar - an exploration of coffee, romance and passion.

To release these works, the date was set for Valentines Day at the Deutscher & Hackett Gallery, only metres from Melbourne's iconic Chapel Street. A good looking crowd enjoyed espresso martini's, champagne, coffee caviar served up on tasting spoons and various other caffeine-infused cuisine.

While basking in the presence of romantic fairytale styled artworks, like a Lavazza daydream, tales of lustful lovers embracing in a sea of milky coffee, the atmosphere was sophisticated and sensual.

And for all the two-somes in the house, whether friends or partners - a wall adorning their loved up photos from the evening, a creative yet personal touch that was appreciated by the crowd.

A big thankyou goes out to the very gorgeous ladies of Harvey Publicity for a well organised and seamless event, and a fabulous goodie bag to boot!

Well in the spirit of the Sartorialist, I not only stopped her, but took a quick happy snap, and thankfully she didnt run away screaming, thinking I was some kind of weirdo.

Going through my wardrobe the other day, I noticed a little mini-trend occuring. Stars and Stripes, the Union Jack, you name it - flags and emblems are popping up everywhere! Even furniture brand Domayne have featured them in their 2011 catalogue!

And without being aware of it, I too have fallen for this look!

It all started with this super hot 'straight out of the 80's' vintage jumper I scored at the Camberwell Markets a few months back. A slightly unhinged lady with a bright pink wig and crazy tutu sold it to me, discounting the price from $75 down to $20 after I scared off a nasty pest who was harrassing women as they shopped. Yes, Liberty Harlow to the rescue! Forget the fashion police, the real-deal cops were almost called, so with a story like that, this jumper has a cool history ... along with some fierce shoulder pads!

Next up is my 'Twinkie Goes to Town' singlet by Sass & Bide. The last one left at the Sass & Bide warehouse sale, I had to stalk a girl around Collingwood Town Hall for a good 20 minutes, waiting for her to discard it, and it was definately worth the hunt. Yes, its too big for me, but I make it work by tying a knot in the back.

And then there is my new Union Jack bodysuit from my new favourite store on Chapel, Bronzesnake.

Another purchase that was made and snuck into the house. When I pull this one out of the wardrobe in a few days time, it will be to the tune of 'This old thing? I've had it for aaaaaages!'

Unless of course 'he' reads this, in which case I'll deny everything!

The scent of freshly cut white roses, softly lit candles and a private suite 30 floors up at the Crown Towers set the scene for last weeks showing of the 2011 Dior Cruise Collection.

Inspired by Parisian New Wave cinematic bombshells such as the devine Brigitte Bardot, the collection showed lots of pastels, candy colours, stripes and subtle floral hints, whether printed on the fabric or through intricate beading.

Even leather with the finest of flowers attached, on close inspection you know you're in the presence of design genius. John Galliano's attention to detail is impeccable, fabrics loomed with the same cross stitch as the original Dior quilted bag and signature bows featured prominently on finer details such as belts and shoulder straps.

The collection flashes back to the past, with the light floral trench being a modern take on an actual 1950's archived piece.

Straight from the runway, were showstopping necklaces, cuffs and chokers, adorned with pearls, swarovski crystals and ebony wood, snapping shut with magnet clasps and pins.

And then there is the metalicised goat skin leather handbag and matching wallet. Drool.

I had to try a few pieces on, all in the name of research of course! And as you can see, I felt like Alice in Fashion Wonderland!

longing for lashes

Devestated after hearing my favourite show, 'The City' had been cancelled, I had a little re-run marathon party last week. It's funny watching a program the 2nd time around, you become obsessed over the smallest things.

Firstly, I love Whitney Port. As a fellow blonde with brown eyes, I often use her for style inspiration. And dont even get me started on her arch-nemisis Olivia Palermo. Does she ever put a perfectly manicured fashion foot wrong? From her Birkin to her Balenciaga, I have to contain a little squeal every time she appears onscreen.

But fashion aside, its her peepers that have caught my attention. Those big bambi lashes of hers are breathtaking, and when I found out she does her own eye makeup, I couldn't believe it! Even more exciting is the thought I could re-create this look at home, after sourcing an interview from US Glamour Magazine where she swears by Revlon Fantasy Lengths Maximum Wear eyelashes.

Now, I consider myself a connoisseur when it comes to false lashes for a big night out on the town, but I'm not a fan of messy glue that I always seem to get on the carpet, or worse, my robe. With that thought in mind, I was pleasantly surprised to find these lashes are self adhesive. Like little stick on nails for your eyes, they were easy to apply and held fast all night!

I think I've just found my new favourite beauty product!

More Kaleidescope than Casio (Digital Print Dresses)

Digital print dresses are a breath of fresh air for Fashionistas in a sea of played out Boho and overdone Retro. Finally, something that hasn’t been done to death and it seems that the fashion savvy are embracing the look with gusto.

Josh Goot pioneered this look here in Australia for his Spring Summer collection in 2008, using a more neutral colour palette, as if to be testing the buying public. These days he’s confidently made a bigger commitment in his collection to Digi prints – using brighter, almost fluoro tones, his fabrics are like a dream of acid paint swirls and lightening strikes that make for a bold statement. Of his latest collection, the pick has to be the Mirrored Sleeveless Mini Dress (RRP$945). Keep accessories to a minimum and let this piece speak for itself.

Moving on to my love of this Kaleidoscope inspired look is design sensation Dion Lee. Bursting onto the Australian fashion scene only last year, the 24 year old LMFF Design Award finalist presented an impressive and highly anticipated collection showcasing Ultraviolet coloured Rorschach (ink blot) prints, as seen here Dion is certainly the designer to watch, invest in his pieces now to pass down to future generations.

And finally we have the scandalous Sydney based fashion trio ‘Illionaire’ with their interpretation – the ‘Worshipper Frock’ (RRP $638) available in the very wearable tones of peacock emerald and bronze. This dress has very structured tailoring with its layered and folded hemline – work this back with ankle boots and a blazer for a softer look.

Aussie Models Making an Impact Overseas - My latest article for Australian Fashion Guide!

Australian models are taking the world by storm right now, snagging some of the biggest international campaigns right out from under the noses of seasoned professionals. Gone are the days of 'one look' being in vogue (think back to heroin chic, wide spaced alien eyes or even exotic Amazonian sized bronzed bombshells) as we Aussie seem to have a little something for everyone.

Our first example is the pixie-esque crowd pleaser Abbey Lee Kershaw. Discovered on Bronte Beach in 2005 by Kathy Ward of Chic Management, then going on to win the Girlfriend CoverGirl Model Search, she was catapaulted to international catwalks within the year, debuting in the Fall of 2006.

At just 23, she's got quite the lengthy resume, with campaigns for Gucci, Chanel, D&G, Ralph Lauren, Chloe, Fendi, Calvin Klein & H&M, just to name a few.

This is one young lady who epitomises the ideal of a true model, being able to morph from an ashen haired beach babe, to a mod-chic sophisticate with a sharp bob and then on to a rock'n'roll platinum blonde within a matter of months, never losing her appeal.

Managed all over the world by various agencies, her mother host being Chic Management here in Australia, however is managed by 2pm Model Management in Denmark and Next in Paris, Milan and New York.

Alice Burdeu is the flame haired winner of Australia’s Next Top Model who has gone on to huge international success with her Grace Coddington style of beauty. Becoming the face of Napoleon Cosmetics and then being the only ANTM winner to achieve a Vogue cover, she’s proven to be much more than a one-trick pony - debuting at New York Fashion Week in February 2008.

Since then she’s walked for Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, Christian Lacroix, Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen, Dolce Gabbana, Lanvin, Sonia Rykiel, Jil Sander and Alex Perry (who was very vocal in his support of Alice during her stint on ANTM).

This exposure has led her on to some very high profile campaigns with D&G, Blumarine, Sonia Rykiel and Mimco. Alice was awarded the title of one of the ‘Top 10 Newcomers’ by Models.com and the ‘Latest Rising Star’ by Style.com in 2008 With a look that is dissimilar to others, the quietly spoken model is kicking goals on the international scene with a career that looks to be a long and successful one

Susannah Murray recently had to move house. Not because she and her boyfriend were upsizing or even because they fancied a change. No, the reason they were forced to relocate was because there wasn’t enough room for her eight wardrobes.

“I have two wardrobes for dresses, jumpsuits, shoes and boots, two for jeans, pants and jodhpurs, another two for tops, blouses and cardigans, and a final two for trenches, coats and furs” says the 32 year old, smiling through perfectly glossed lips. “Oh, and I do have extra drawers and shelves for underwear, T-shirts and socks.”

With her luminous cheekbones, immaculate magenta shift dress and the sort of posture only delivered by deportment classes, Murray, a fashion writer and blogger, belongs to that rare and delicately perfumed breed of women who never dress down.

While the rest of us slap on a bit of tinted sunscreen and flop down to the beach in our Havaianas, these women go to great lengths to look glam 24/7, wearing makeup to bed, sacrificing their feet in 10cm heels, shelling out hundreds of dollars on hair extensions and repainting their nails several times a week. Or in Murray’s case, several times a night.
“Im a bit obsessive about my nails,” she laughs. “They’re really irritating me today, because Ive painted them with a white Chanel polish, but Im wearing black and gold. I cant wait to get home and repaint them.”

She recently went to an important meeting and chipped a nial as she was stepping out of the taxi. “I was beside myself. All through the meeting, I gesticulated and picked up my glass of water with my other hand.”

Yet far from being annoying or self-obsessed, Murray’s evident pleasure in dressing up and looking her best is rather infectious. She admits some elements of her routine are borderline ridiculous, from taking two hours to get ready, to wearing makeup to the gym and matching her sport socks to her training outfits.

“I’d never risk being caught without makeup,” she says. “Yes, Im sure it may seem a bit vain, but Im not forcing this on anyone else. I can laugh at myself and Im not hurting anyone.”
Having appeared in Big Brother in 2007, where her fastidious grooming was a source of amusement among housemates, Murray subsequently moved from Brisbane to Melbourne because of the fashion.

Rather than envying Murray, friends see her as a constant source of styling advice. But what about the men in her life? Surely all this primping and preening must have ruined the odd romance or two? “It never cost me a boyfriend but I can guarantee its gained me a few,” she says. “My boyfriend, Thomas, doesn’t mind at all. “If any guy thinks he can come between me and my fashion, its all over.”

In fact, far from ditching a high-maintenance partner, it seems certain men find this attention to glamour and grooming alluring. David Beckham has spent 13 years with a perma-tanned wife whose feet constantly teeter in sky-high stilettos and whose carb-starved body is zipped into figure-hugging frocks of her own design. Actor Liz Hurley, who says she always wears makeup because she “doesn’t see the point of looking less than your best,” appears happily married, while 77 year old Joan Collins has no shortage of (younger) husbands trailing in her polished and fragrant wake.

Can leggings be considered pants?

Ok, I admit it, I’m one of those girls who considers leggings to be pants. In my defence, if I’m spending close to $300 on a pair of (enter ridiculously expensive designer leggings here), then damn it, I’m wearing them!

My partner however, has different ideas. For he has seen too many near-sheer leggings strutting down Chapel Street, fluoro Mickey Mouse G-string on show in certain shades of sunlight. Rolling his eyes & groaning, he’s even got the most unpleasant term for plus sized girls who dare bare those wet look leggings. “A baby whale trapped in an oil slick” – this is about the time I switch off, cringing at his political incorrectness**.

Me however, I wear my leggings with pride. Studded, panels, leather, zippered, you name it, i love it all and if worn right, leggings are a perfect alternative to jeans or pants. However, there are a couple of simple rules to live by.

1. If you aren’t comfortable exposing your behind in a swimsuit, then perhaps its best to wear a long tee, cardi or blazer to hide this trouble spot.

2. For the love of God, please check your leggings aren’t see-through! Hold them up to the light if you’re unsure.

Aussie viewers are still reeling in shock at the utter 'balls up' of last nights ANTM finale, when the ever gracious Sarah Murdoch announced the winner, only to recant as the young model was giving her thankyou speech.

This isnt the first time voting systems have failed the viewing public. I myself was voted out of Big Brother using a phone/text system, with the terms and conditions clearly stating that any text votes with housemates names being mispelt would be rendered invalid, only to discover upon my exit that on the official BB website they were spelling my name 2 different ways (depending on which page you clicked on).

And lets not forget the infamous Bree Amer disaster. Being voted out of the house, only to return a week later due to a miscount.

So who is responsible for these sorts of mishaps? All I know is that someone at ANTM is probably getting their marching orders today.

One girl with her star on the rise is designer Miss Lyndel Yeo (MLY) - who in August 2005 was a finalist at the Mercedes Benz Start Up Parade, then going on to be awarded 'Designer of the year 2005’ for the Federation Square Fashion Showcase Series.

This week, along with Melbourne's fashion elite, the gorgeous designer celebrated her 5th birthday in style, by throwing a very exclusive event to launch her 2010 Spring Collection. The range is very tribal inspired, with flowing fabrics and edgy pieces, but dont hear it from me - you can check out all the footage here! Oh and I may make an appearance in there somewhere!

Spring Enchantment at Forever New

A few weeks back, I had the fortune of attending the launch of the Spring Collection for one of Australia's hottest brands, Forever New.

Held at the enchanting Ripponlea Estate, I felt like I'd entered a fairytale, as guests walked down the dark pathway, through the gardens, to where it opened up to a warmly lit mansion, only to be greeted by a glass of champagne and the cameras flashing. A white baby grand piano stood proudly in the centre of the catwalk, waiting for its guest of honour to trickle her fingertips across the keys.

The crowd mingled to the sounds of local DJ 'on-the-rise' Andy Murphy, when the room fell silent, as the ethereal Delta Goodrem suddenly appeared, a vision in white. This girl is seriously breathtaking, and the pics dont do her justice. Flawless skin, a perfect profile and THAT voice, she truly is amazing - and perfect as an ambassador for the Forever New brand.

Now Miss Goodrem's appearance would have run smoothly, if it hadnt of been for my 'plus one'** and her Iphone suddenly cranking its own playlist, just as the crowd was intently listening on Delta's every word. Thankfully the lovely Delta was jovial enough to have a laugh about it. And so, the show must go on!

Now. Down to business. Forever New showcased three of its collections over the evening. 'La Vie En Rose' (currently instore), 'Floral Wonderland', which seemed like a sea of floaty vintage pieces in dreamy florals and pastels, and 'Garden Party' which I predict will be the 'go-to' for anyone looking for THE perfect Spring Racing Carnival dress, and you can bet I've already made up my wishlist for the coming season. But dont let me convince you, let the pics speak for themselves!

an intelligent shade of blonde?

Bardot bombshell trying to make it big in the US, Miss Sophie Monk is displaying all the clear signs of a girl whose just been dumped. Dying her hair what I like to call 'an intelligent shade of blonde', the lovely Sophie had been in quite a serious relationship with plastic surgeon John Diaz, when she was involved in a car accident a few months back, and things just unravelled from there.

The average woman apparently changes her hairstyle 104 times in a lifetime and I must say, I think the change has done her the world of good. She looks better than she has in years, with that 'porno blonde look' being so 5 years ago (are you listening Paris Hilton?). Now if someone could just throw the girl a cheeseburger and a smile, she'll do just fine.

Perhaps now she'll cease being typecast in all those cheesy bimbo roles she seems to be getting. This is one girl I'd like to see really make something of herself.

Flicking through Harpers Bazaar UK recently, I came across an ad that gave me a bit of a giggle. Does the marketing team at Dior seriously think that anybody believes their product is responsible for this 'version' of Sharon Stone? And when I say version, its one of THE most photoshopped images Ive ever come across! Look at Sharon's left eye - she no longer has an eyelid!

'More beautiful today than at 20' they say. So at 20, was Sharon without eyelids?

This kind of advertising makes me annoyed. I like to consider myself an intelligent person, but this image is telling me I should believe that a 52 year old actress looks this way because of a 'Super Serum'.

Give me a break.

I have a deep rooted intense dislike for a certain sulky little ingrate of a movie star by the name of Kristen Stewart. I dont care how many media types want to tell me about her 'ethereal beauty' and her porcelain skin. Whatevs. She's only half way decent because she's young, all that scowling will one day create some nasty-ass angry wrinkles on her already sour face. Crack a smile girl, you're only worth millions of dollars and have fans all over the world!

So she hates the press. Boohoo, cry me a river rat face - they're the only ones keeping you relevant. No wonder her chosen career was acting, because whenever she chooses to open her mouth and give her OWN opinion, she comes across sounding dumber than Megan Fox.

Ok. Rant over. Now for the crucifixion from all the K-Stew lovers out there.

Botox - Something to frown about?

Ok, I'm about to break the code of the sisterhood here, but I admit, I use Botox. You may be shocked by this admission, but all is not smooth sailing (pardon the pun) & I felt obliged to share my experience with you.

I started off by using it between my eyebrows, so I couldnt really frown so hard. I highly recommend this procedure as it softens the whole face (and I'll definately do it again) but I took it a lot further than that.

Chatting to the nurse a few months later, I discussed my desire for a brow lift. I'd heard that Botox was a temporary solution, and rather than being so drastic and going under the knife, I happily offered myself as a pincushion :) The result was ... ok. At first I felt a little like Doctor Spok, but as it wore off, it made me feel refreshed and the severity softened.

My eyebrows went back to normal within months, and I felt the space between my eyes didnt really need it straight away, so I waited almost another year before having the procedure again.
This time around was a different story. Admittedly, I saw a different nurse this time around (which was silly, because the lady I usually go to is fantastic, and I'll recommend her to anyone with confidence) and was talked into getting a little under my eyes, and having the brow lifted again too.

Within 3 days, I noticed one of my eyes felt almost paralysed. Not the actual eyeball as such, but my eyelid felt it wouldnt open all the way. I also started to notice that I was extremely sensitive to sunlight, and my vision started to go a little foggy. Scary stuff.

After much panic, I googled my symptoms, discovering this wasnt an uncommon reaction. Apparently Botox can spread away from the injection site. I just had to wait it out, which in my case was about 2 weeks. Not cool. A lot of things can happen in 2 weeks. Like driving a car for instance, or trying to sit outside at a cafe reading the menu, or anything that involves sight really. Like I said, not cool.

On a side note, I didnt really like the way my eyes looked after all the Botox anyway. When I laughed, my eyes didnt crinkle up in joy. They just looked like two hollow pools that didnt match my face. And lets admit, droopy eye just aint sexy!

So ladies, Botox isnt necessarily the miracle cure for everything. I've come to realise that sometimes its okay to look your age and have laugh lines. After all, I'd like to be able to see what I'm laughing at!
　
　
　

Liberty's lovin the lipstick!

Call it an 80's flashback, but lipstick seem to be 'in' again. Everywhere I look, pouty lips stained in fire engine hues - its like Im trapped in a Robert Palmer video clip.

Being one to never venture far from gloss, I decided to jump on the bandwagon & give it a try. In my mind it had to be the perfect shade of red, something to flatter my skintone, not make me look like Crusty the Clown. It also had to keep my lips moist, nothing worse than seeing a girl with cracked lipstick flaking off (which seems to go hand in hand with red lipstick for some reason).

Not prepared to invest too much until I was fully committed to the look, I trotted off to Priceline to find the 'look for less'. Cautiously, I wandered up and down the aisles, until I came across the L'oreal Colour Riche lipsticks - lipstick that has a moisture strip running through the middle of it.

Looking at the display, 90's Supermodel Linda Evangelista seems to think the shade 'True Red' is good enough to adorn her smacker, so if thats the case, its good enough for moi. And I'm happy to say, its a great colour! A little intimidating at first to suddenly be making my lips the focus of my face, but I got so many compliments, I just had to pass on my recommendation. True Red seems to be a shade that suits everyone & is long lasting. Perfect!

A few small hints when applying such a daring shade however.

* Make sure you rub a little foundation over your lips first, giving the colour something to grab on to.

* Use a lighter shade of lip liner to tone down the intensity of the red - this is just personal preference but I think after experimenting, you'll agree.

* Never ever ever add gloss, unless you're going to a 'Trashy Vegas Hooker' party. It's just tacky.

Enjoy this trend while it lasts ladies!

Crowning Glory?

Many of you may remember my fine & wispy blonde do, back on my short stint on that television show 'that shall remain nameless'.

I'd spend my days teasing, layering, even pinning my hair up in a side pony, all to give the illusion of thicker tresses, but who was I kidding? In a nutshell, it was a big FAILURE!

After what I like to call 'my escape from Alcatraz' (that house certainly felt like a prison somedays), I had the fortune of discovering hair extensions, and after much research, Hair Extensions International (or HEI, as they're known by by those 'in the know').

You've heard all the horror stories about hair extensions - metal clips that rip your hair out, synthetic hair that burns with one look at a GHD, badly matched colours, but HEI put my mind to rest.

You see, they use something called 'Fusion Technology' - where they apply resin (not glue) to bond the hair to your own. This means, that when it comes time to take them out, they just rub a little acetone over the bond and voila! The extension slips right off! With no damage to your own hair!

The hair also comes in packaged shades and aren't pre-bonded. Meaning, you can order a few different colours and have each individual extension mixed up of the those shades - Great for matching the extension to your hair's own natural colour. In my case, I use a mix of light and caramel blondes with a dark brown, so it all looks very natural. Success!

So now my little secret is out, I've become a hair extension addict. I honestly dont think I could ever be without them! Admittedly, I once had them taken out for 24 hours and cried like a baby because I felt like 'less of a woman'!!! Tres' embarrassing, but any girl reading this with extensions will be feeling my pain :)

Frocks & Shocks, oh how I love the Logies!

Sigh. Im coming back in my next life as former Miss Universe, Jennifer Hawkins. Did anyone else spot her red carpet look at last nights Logies? With Barbie doll like pins to die for - she positively glowed in her simple 60's inspired Toni Maticevski shift dress. Absolutely breathtaking, however I must note - while she was my favourite of the evening, Im not entirely sure mini dresses are appropriate for the event. Perhaps she was a little confused with the upcoming fashion week? In my opinion, If it were floor length and backless, it may have been more suitable for the black tie dress code.

Same goes for Claudia Karvan. Fashion forward and edgy, but more suited to sitting front row at the Ready-to-Wear shows, rather than an old-school celebration like the Logies. Bert Newton's big old eyes must have bugged out of his huge head spotting her nipple slip! Then again, there's always 'one' at every event (are you listening Tara Reid?).

Now I may be crucified for this, but a word of advice to Nat Bassingthwaite. Heavily pregnant and complaining of being tired - I wouldnt have suggested such a severe hairstyle or dark smokey eye - it just made her look even more exhausted. As for the J'Aton gown she wore, the colour all wrong and totally washed her out. Perhaps something that complimented her complexion would have been better? J'Aton seem to get it right when dressing pregnant Dannii Minogue on countless occasions, where was the love for Nat? With the economy the way it is, perhaps Channel 10 have trotted out Gretel Killeen's old stylist to help the poor lamb. Heaven forbid.

Special mentions must go to Margot Robbie of Neighbours - this hot little tomale just sizzles in a gleaming white two piece with crystal embellished shoulder, and the lovely Esther Anderson of Home and Away, absolutely radiant in an elegant grecian inspired apricot number. Two thumbs up ladies!

No Go Bianco

There's no doubt Chapel Street regulars are super excited to see the new Tony Bianco flagship store opens its doors.

With its glossy counters, long lean fit-out, new season range and celebrity endorsement, it seems like a dream come true for the shoe fanatic.

However all is not so rosy instore, after hearing at least 3 potential customers express their disappointment at being turned away from making a layby - as the company simply dont offer the feature.

In today's economy you'd think turning away sales would be bad for business, but apparently not-so in Bianco's world.

Perhaps thats why Jodi Gordon is the face of the brand - you need access to a media tycoon's credit card to be welcome to shop there.

Not happy Mr Bianco, not happy at all.

Melbourne's answer to Miranda Kerr, Lucy Mcintosh has just announced her engagement to DJ Poet of the Black Eyed Peas - after he proposed while sailing in the Maldives.

Lucy's star has been on the rise since winning the very first Fashion TV Diamond Model Awards last year, and has shot several high profile international campaigns since - check any 'Cotton On' window, here and in the United States. When asked about his love for the Aussie stunner, DJ Poet said, 'She's my muse, my fiancee and the love of my life.' (now everyone say 'Ahhhhhhhh').

Keeping Up with Kim ...

Anyone whose been following me on twitter knows that I've gone Kardashian Krazy! After hearing she would be making an appearance at a local Optus store (she's here to promote a new phone for Optus), I kinda went a little loopy.

My boss felt so sorry for me, she even let me wander up Chapel, after local police mentioned they were showing their 'presence' as she was shopping up the road. But alas, my efforts were to no avail - I experienced exactly ZERO Kardashian sightings - Even after leaving my phone number with the girls at Zimmermann, just in case Kimbo popped in for a spot of bikini shopping.

However - she did show a little love on the news.com site - answering questions live!

Of course there were the regular freaks proposing marriage and girls asking her about plastic surgery (which amusingly she denied - one blogger even stated 'Losing weight doesnt change the shape of your nose') however all I wanted to know about was her makeup. As it so happens, her favourite lip gloss is by Lip Fusion, and as for nailpolish - it’s 'My Private Jet' or 'Linkin Park after Dark' (go Kim, my favourite!)

As for foundation - she wears Georgio Armani and MakeUpForever.

If anyone out there can tell me what highlighter Miss Kardashian uses on her cheeks, I'll be forever in your debt! Although there have been suggestions that it isnt highlighter, but cheek implants that are making her look so chiselled. hmm.

Ahh well. K-Dash, I love you anyway!

As some of you may be aware, I've been wanting to start up a Vintage and Designer clothing business for almost a year now (Yes, I like to procrastinate)!

Slowly, I started building on my stock, sourcing amazing pieces from all over - and it got to the point where we thought we may have to move because ... well my 'cup runneth over', so to speak. oh Lara. I love you. I want us to be BFF's and go shopping together and giggle over lattes in some beatnik little Bondi cafe. When I heard you were sporting fake Chanel tattoos on your chest I admittedly was a little concerned, but when checking out the pics from last nights 'Allan Border Medal', I have to say, I was eating my words.

Draped in a Michelle Jank gown, this girl definately knows how to 'do classy'. In a world full of WAG's who seem to think that dressing like a hooker-showgirl is the way to go, Lara, is the breath of fresh air we are all screaming for!

If the rumours are true, Miss Bingle is looking to eventually launch her own clothing line, a-la Kate Moss for Topshop - and if her fashion forward ways are any indication, it will be a clear success!

On a side note, is it just me, or do those tattoos remind anyone of Nicole Richie's rosary tattoo? Adorable!

Au Naturale?

Im not sure if this is a sign of the times, but Ive noticed a lot of girls rocking a more natural look of late. Im talking natural coloured hair (and in some cases obvious regrowth, think stylist Pip Edwards) and thicker eyebrows, a-la Whitney Port and Olivia Palermo of 'The City' fame.

Fashionistas are embracing this look with full force and I tend to wonder if there is a link somehow, to the Global Financial Crisis? Its much easier to maintain a low fuss look, skipping a few hairdressing and wax appointments - all in the name of style, when its hurting the budget much less.

Take myself for example - I've managed to avoid a colourist for the last 5 months - although somehow I use this as an excuse to buy more clothing! Ahh well, ce la vie!

Whereis the Party?

While many of you were sinking a few beers & heating up the barbie on Australia Day Eve, I had the fortune of experiencing the craziest party Melbourne had seen in a long time - The Whereis Secret Paint Party!

Guests were asked to RSVP - not knowing what the theme of the party would be, only to receive a paint splattered parcel in the mail a few days later, containing a protective jumpsuit and a website to look up closer to the date.

Two days before the event, the location was announced and .... well you'll have to watch the video to see how it went!

Why 'what to wear on piste' doesn't mean your attire after a few cocktails!

For someone who had never been to the snow before, let alone paid attention to snow-fashion, you can imagine my panic earlier this year, when faced with a ski wear sale, only moments after being surprised with a trip to Hotham.

Now, for those who need to play catch-up, I'm the sort of girl who will catch a cab home if I dont feel happy in my threads. I have been known to leave the odd surprise birthday to get changed, hey - 'its my party and I'll cry if I want to', as they say. Boo hoo, anyway - back to my dilemma.

Does one go candy coloured and cutesy? Or stick with the Melbourne Fashionista fail-safe of black, while on piste? Thank heavens for 2009 technology, as I readily tapped into my iPhone, googling pics of Kate Moss and Victoria Beckham on the slopes.

After much investigation, black seemed to be the way to go - a better investment for fashion longevity at least.

Now, if I can just arrange for some Chanel ski's, I'm set!

So anyone strolling past their local Gripp Jeans Store would have noticed a very glamorous change to their stock, and according to my sources (I'll never tell...) its all thanks to their new designer - who just happened to be poached from Bettina Liano!

I thought their new season looked familiar - find Pagoda statement shoulders, cut out dresses, silk harem pants and the most devine Chloe inspired sheer blouses to drool over.

Unfortunately their price point has also gone up to that of BL. I guess some things just cant stay the same.

Being a lover of all books 'coffee table', I just HAD to get my hands on 'Influence' - the photographic journal/talent biography by that stylish duo, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. How can 2 girls get it so right? Unpretentious, quirky and talented, reading this book just upped my respect and admiration for the twosome. Forget long monologues about how fabulous they are, they simply showcase the amazing talent they've been lucky enough to work with or be inspired by, with a few tidbits about themselves thrown in here and there. I've had this for a few months now and every time I pick it up I find a new page to admire and inspire. A must have.

It's a sad, sad moment for all lovers of fine couture! Beloved designer to the stars, Mr Christian Lacroix has apparently filed for bankruptcy! Some call it the end of an era, however those in this know have seen this coming for some time. According to the Wall Street Journal, Lacroix posted a loss of over $14 million in the last financial year!

Is another piece of fashion history leaving us? Not if a buyer steps in and saves the day! Patsy and Eddie - where are you now?

On an interesting note, US label Mike & Chris - who are most well known for their fabulous take on the leather bomber jacket, are also apparently doing it tough in this economic climate.

I cant stress enough at how everyone must rush out immediately and buy the new Ladyhawke album. If you ask me, then the answer is no, but these days I'm feeling a little sheepish at the thought of pulling out my Hello Kitty notebook and jotting down ideas using my Hello Kitty pen. Worst Eyebrow Pencil EVER.

After reading how amazing this new product was, I trotted off to DJ's to pick up a Chanel Long Lasting Eyebrow Pencil 'Stylo Sourcils Waterproof'. $49 later, I found it to be the worst, most waxy pencil ever - it shifts on the skin, doesnt show colour in some places, and the sharpener on the end only causes the pencil to break, over and over (and doesnt sharpen either). A week after purchasing it, I was down to the very end of the pencil, and to be honest, I was kinda glad, as it was horrible. Still, at $49 (and being a 'high end' cosmetic) I expected more.

I feel like Im a bit of a connaisseur when it comes to brow pencils now - originally I used a 'She Umera' one, but it was an actual pencil and I got sick of sharpening it all the time. So I switched to a Kevin Aucoin from Mecca, quite similar in style to Chanel - as far as the fact that it twists up, but was much better quality than Chanel. Just a little dark though. Is it too much to ask to find the perfect twistie brow pencil for my hard earned dollars?

All I know is that I'm incredibly disappointed. Shame on you Chanel.

Dreaming of Dark Digits

so i know im 12 months late but im totally obsessing over dark nailpolish. I'd say black, but to be honest i prefer when the look isnt a flat black, more of a deep grape or rouge noir reflect for the first 2 layers, then turns to black. i think chanel started the trend with vamp, but it never took off as much as it did last season, with starlets like lindsay and mischa sporting dark digits. This look doesnt work north of Sydney however - I guess thats what I love about Melbourne. You can sport an all black look and not be considered emo.

my pick? OPI in Lincoln Park After Dark. discovered after admiring the nails of a fellow coffee drinker at a cafe on Chapel St. She was even so kind as to pull some out of her handbag and let me try it on. Bless.
